The economy runs on electricity. It is our most vital energy source. Electricity-based technologies such as computers and telecommunications have emerged as the primary driver for economic growth. The digital microprocessor has embedded every aspect of society with intelligence and dramatically reshaped American life. The dependence of modern society on reliable electricity is undeniable.

Yet the world's electricity supplies are facing dramatic pressures from deregulation, increasing environmental restrictions, and surging growth in electricity demand. Electricity usage has grown from 25% of energy consumption in 1970 to almost 40% today. At the same time, environmental initiatives seek to reduce power plant air emissions to a fraction of current emission levels. These broad growth and environmental demands on our electricity supply cannot be met with current energy technologies.

Our Role
There is no easy way to bridge the gap between global economic and environmental imperatives. At Powerspan, we recognize the complex challenges that power generators face in supplying competitive, reliable, and environmentally clean electricity. Our mission is to supply advanced energy technologies to meet those demands and provide a clean, economical bridge from the fossil fuel era to the renewable energy era.

At Powerspan, we pioneer cost-effective and timely solutions for the power generating base. Our core technology, Electro-Catalytic Oxidation (ECO^®) applied to coal combustion systems, provides the functionality of four separate emission control technologies in a single integrated system and produces a valuable fertilizer co-product. Our research and development efforts focus on unique applications of our proprietary technology to improve the efficiency of power generation and reduce its environmental impact.
