Powerspan Featured in MIT Innovations Journal Special Energy and Climate Issue
Powerspan Corp.’s CEO Frank Alix has contributed to a special issue of MIT’s Innovations Journal entitled Energy for Change: Creating Climate Solutions. This issue focuses on innovative answers to the world’s climate challenge and in the introduction, White House Science Adviser John Holdren states that it is “as thorough a survey of energy and climate solutions as has yet been compiled.”
The Powerspan article conveys the importance of capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) from coal-fired power plants as well as the types of incentives needed to commercialize this technology, noting the challenges of commercially deploying carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) at full scale. Further, the piece chronicles Powerspan’s 15-year journey from a small start-up to a leader in the CCS arena with its ECO2 carbon capture technology.
